Read: Psalm 19:14
@
CHRISTIAN PRAYER IS...
1. A heart-to-heart talk...
…spoken or unspoken, (cont.)
@
[ 1 Kings 18:20-39 ]
The prophets of Baal
cut themselves, but Baal
did not answer their
prayers. Why?
@
….with the one true God.
Is 59:2 Your iniquities have
separated you from your God;
your sins have hidden his face
from you,
so that he will
not hear.
What alone brings a Holy God
and sinners together in prayer?
Rom 8:34 ~ Christ
Jesus, who died–
more than that, who
was raised to life– is
at the right hand of
God and is also
interceding for
us!
@
Gal 3:26 You are all sons of
God through faith in Christ
Jesus.
@
2. A privilege for God’s
children...
…who through
faith in Jesus, have had
the barrier of sin
removed.
Can we earn brownie points with God, to
get our prayers heard?
@
Philp 4:6 ~ In everything, by
prayer and petition… present
your requests to God.
3. A command of God for
all believers.
Triune God

saving faith in Jesus.
HOW SHOULD
WE
PRAY?
Jn 15 5) I am the vine; you are the
branches. If a man remains me and
I in him, he will bear much fruit;
apart fomr me you can do nothing.
16) You did not choose me, but I
chose you to go and bear fruit….
Then the Father will give you
whatever you ask in my name.
1. In Jesus’ name (that is, trusting
Him as our personal Savior).
Jn 15:7 If you remain in me, and
my words remain in you, ask
whatever you wish and it will be
given to you.
Mk 14:36 [Prayer in Gethsemane]
“Take this cup from me. Yet not
what I will, but what you will.”
2. According to God’s will:
that is, asking that HIS
WILL be done.
Jesus prayed to his father: “Not my will, but your
will be done!”
John 15:5 I am the vine, you
are the branches. If a man
remains in me, and I in him,
he will bear much fruit. Apart
from me you can do nothing.
3. Trusting that God will hear and answer
our prayer in his time and way.
Rom 8:26 ~ The [Holy] Spirit helps
us in our weakness. We do not
know what we ought to pray; but
the Spirit himself intercedes for us
with groans that words cannot
express.
3. Trusting that God will hear and
answer in love.
FOR WHAT
SHOULD WE
PRAY?
Mt 6:33 ~ But seek first his
kingdom and his righteousness, and
all these things will be given to you
as well.
1. Especially for spiritual blessings, but
also for physical needs too.
Read: Matthew 7:7
1 Timothy 2:1
2. For our needs (personal petitions)
3. For the needs of others
(intercessions)
WHAT SHOULD
WE INCLUDE
