Psalms 85:1-7



1 Lord, thou hast been favourable unto thy
land: thou hast brought back the captivity of
Jacob.
2 Thou hast forgiven the iniquity of thy
people, thou hast covered all their sin. Selah.
3 Thou hast taken away all thy wrath: thou
hast turned thyself from the fierceness of
thine anger.




4 Turn us, O God of our salvation, and cause
thine anger toward us to cease.
5 Wilt thou be angry with us for ever? wilt
thou draw out thine anger to all generations?
6 Wilt thou not revive us again: that
thy people may rejoice in thee?
7 Shew us thy mercy, O Lord, and grant us
thy salvation.
What does the word “Revival”
mean?




The word ’revival" means
"to make fresh and strong again;
to bring back to a good condition.”
One of the keys to the true meaning of
the word revival is found in Psalms 85:





vs. 1-3 The Psalmist recalls the way God worked so
majestically in the past history of Israel:
“You showed favor to your land, O LORD; you restored the
fortunes of Jacob. You forgave the iniquity of your people and
covered all their sins. You set aside all your wrath and turned
from your fierce anger.”
Then in the following verses he says,
“Do it again God!” Verse 4,6: “Restore us again O God our
Savior … Will you not revive us again, that your
people may rejoice in you?"
7 Shew us thy mercy, O Lord, and grant us thy salvation.
We Need to be Revived Again!






It is the nature of all created things
to wear out and to wind down.
It is the nature of a fire, to go out;
of sheep, to wander;
of love, to wax cold;
of the church, to drift;
and of people, to forget.
We need to be Revived!





We need to be revived and restored to the early devotion we
had for becoming loyal disciples of Jesus Christ.
We need ‘..the times of refreshing from the presence of the
Lord!’ As Peter told the men of Israel..
Acts 3:19 Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that
your sins may be blotted out, when the times of refreshing shall
come from the presence of the Lord; and he shall send Jesus
Christ, which before was preached unto you
Repentance and Conversion brings
‘times of Refreshing .come from the presence of the Lord”

Revival Is the Work of God!

Psalms 85: ‘revive us again…”
A True Revival will Result in





1. Reawakening of the Christian.
“Awake thou that sleepest..” I Cor. 15: 34
“Awake to righteousness,and sin not;
for some have not the Knowledge of God: I
speak this to your shame.
2. Reawakening of the church..
The church having a greater impact on the world
as Christians become serious about living lives of full
devotion to the Lord Jesus Christ before a watching
world. Rev. 2:4 “thou hast left thy first love.”
Acts 9:31

31 Then had the churches rest
throughout all Judaea and Galilee and
Samaria, and were edified; and
walking in the fear of the Lord, and
in the comfort of the Holy Ghost,
were multiplied.




3. Reawakening of AMERICA!
Prov. 14:34
“Righteousness exalteth a nation,
But sin is a reproach to any people!”
Psalms 85:1-7

We need: More Zeal.
Titus 2:11-14




11 For the grace of God that bringeth salvation
hath appeared to all men,
12 Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly
lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly,
in this present world;
13 Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious
appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus
Christ;
14 Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us
from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar
people, zealous of good works.
We need more praying!
James 5:16





The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man
available much.
Real Praying…begging and pleading with God!
Isa. 38:2,3 “Then Hezekiah turned his face
toward the wall, and prayed unto the Lord, And
said,Remember now, O Lord, I beseech thee,how I
have walked before thee in truth and with a perfect
heart, and have done that which is good in thy sight.
And Hezekiah wept sore.
More Relying on God!



I can’t do it alone, but with God, I
can do all things
Through Christ which strengtheneth
me.Phil4:13
Heb. 13:5,6;




We worry…we fret..we become
discouraged..we don’t know what to do
sometimes! So many can relate to that!
We must have FAITH. Do we believe what
God said???
1. I Pet. 5:6,7 “Humble yourselves
therefore under the mighty hand of God, that
he may exalt you in due time: 7 Casting all
your care upon him; for he careth for you. “
But we worry…we
, we murmur , we complain…
Look Up Christian!




…the highest power
Is in Heaven!
And Jesus is our Master,
Lord, Provider, Helper..
Our Gospel Meeting Starts
Next Sunday…









We need more attending…Heb. 10:25
Are we going to let the world see us , falter, hardly
have
any desire to lift up Jesus Christ our
Saviour… ? Mtt. 6:33 still applies to us
At O’Neal too!
We need to be revived! We sometimes act as if
the world has won…that we are hopeless creatures…
We belong to God…and remember…
And with God nothing is impossible!
Matt. 19:26



After the rich young ruler left, not doing what
Jesus told him to do to be a follower of his,
Jesus stated, ‘it is easier for a camel to go
through the eye of a needle, than for a rich
man to enter into the kingdom of God.
The disciples asked: Who then can be
saved?
“But Jesus beheld them, and said unto them,
With men this is impossible; but with God all
things are possible. “
Let the flag of freedom
fly in America….





And let the book of God be read, studied,
and proclaimed. “In God We Trust”..
The True and living God!. Heb.10:31
Let us, His people, wake up…get up..repent
up ..and stand up, .we can…
And we will……because ‘we are more than
conquerors…” Rom. 8:37 “Nay, in all these
things we are more than conquerors through
him that loved us. “
Revive US again!...




It’s time to awake…to give God what
Is due God. Our devotion, our time
our efforts.
Quit the excuses, change the bad
attitudes,
And let us march unto victory under
the banner of the Cross of Jesus Christ.
O Lord, Revive us again!



Put new life in us
Let not our age, young or old, detour
our determination….
“Let us Rise and Build…”
Neh. 2:17-20




17 Then said I unto them, Ye see the distress that we are in, how
Jerusalem lieth waste, and the gates thereof are burned with fire:
come, and let us build up the wall of Jerusalem, that we be no more a
reproach.
18 Then I told them of the hand of my God which was good upon me;
as also the king's words that he had spoken unto me. And they said,
Let us rise up and build. So they strengthened their hands for this
good work.
19 But when Sanballat the Horonite, and Tobiah the servant, the
Ammonite, and Geshem the Arabian, heard it, they laughed us to
scorn, and despised us, and said, What is this thing that ye do? will ye
rebel against the king?
20 Then answered I them, and said unto them, The God of heaven,
he will prosper us; therefore we his servants will arise and
build: but ye have no portion, nor right, nor memorial, in Jerusalem.
Neh. 4:6

So built we the wall; and all the wall
was joined together unto the half
for the people
had a mind to work.
thereof:


Do we at O’Neal? Let us say
And mean it…
We, at O’Neal, have a people
that are ready to work!





We are ready to move onward…
We are ready to actively serve our
Lord Jesus Christ
We can do it…with the help of our
God!
Let’s prove it in our meeting…






Plan to be here
Invite others to come
Rejoice and be glad that we
can meet and worship and serve
our God.
March 1-4, 2015 …
Never let this church be
a Laodicea….Rev. 3:14-22









Let us be like the church at
Philadelphia…devoted. Strong, marching
Together…and living with the victory
Of Jesus in sight.
This life is short…so short.. Jas.4:13-14
..We need to be revived again!
Let us turn to God..not away from Him!
Psalms 85:6 “Wilt thou not revive us again:
that thy people may rejoice in thee?”
A Reminder:



There have been people living on this
same earth as we who have made a
huge difference in their lives and in the
lives of others!

Let the Words of MY MOUTH

Psalms 19:14 “Let the words of my
mouth and the meditation of my heart,
be acceptable in thy sight, O Lord, my
strength and my redeemer!”




Abel …his sacrifice acceptable..Cain’s not.
why? He offered what God wanted him to
offer.
Are you giving what GOD wants
you to give Him.?
Rich young ruler…unacceptable. Matt. 19:1622 Though Jesus loved this young man…
Examples: People whose
lives were changed…





Joseph…Gen. 39:9
“ How can I do this great
wickedness and sin against my God?
How can I? Others may do it,
but not me…’how can I do it?’
So, a young man, a young lady, can
be pleasing to God in today’s society by
doing exactly as Joseph.
Cornelius Acts 10:33,34,35








Cornelius..God was pleased with him
when he got his family together and
listened to Peter’s sermon and obeyed it!
Acts 10:33 .Now therefore are we all here present before
God, to hear all things that are commanded thee of God.”…and
then obeyed it. Acts 10:34,35
They were gathered together. Cornelius said we are all here,
to hear all things that are commanded thee of God.”
Will we do the same in our meeting.
We are
All here present before God! To hear all
things..commanded thee of God!
Go, and sin no more.
John 8:11



The woman taken in the act of
adultery…
Go and sin no more…John 8:11 ‘go
and sin no more’. We need to hear
that…we need to
Remember that…Ask God’s forgiveness
for our sins and go and ‘sin no more’
Paul

Saul, the persecuter, became Paul the
Proclaimer. Gal. 1:23 But they had
heard only, That he which persecuted
now
us in times past
preacheth the
faith which once he destroyed.”
v.24
And they glorified God in me!




When you get discouraged, when you fall by
the wayside, when things seem to be all
going wrong for you, and when you
remember your past, your sins and the
Devil wants you to quit…
When the Devil reminds you of your
past, Remind him of his future!
When you have sinned, do
like King David did…
King David… 2 Sam. 12:13 “I have
sinned”
Paul…Gal. 2:20; gave up the old me and
Put on the new me.

Brings us to realize…
WHAT WE HAVE IN JESUS CHRIST!
If you are in Christ Jesus …
He has written your name in the book of life!.
What? Where is my name…? Who
Put it there?
Acts 2:47 And the LORD added to the church
daily such as should be saved.
Rev. 20:12-15




12 And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and
the books were opened: and another book was opened,
which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out
of those things which were written in the books, according to
their works.
13 And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death
and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they
were judged every man according to their works.
14 And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the
second death.
15 And whosoever was not found written in the
book of life was cast into the lake of fire.
Is (your name) written in the
Book of Life..?








Names written in the book…by the Master.
Acts 2:47
Names blotted out of that book…by the
Master.
Erring brethren. James 5:19-20
Sinning brethren who will not correct
Their sins!. James 5:16
Will God blott out your name?



Ex. 32:31-33 And Moses returned unto the
Lord, and said, Oh, this people have sinned a
great sin, and have made them gods of gold.
“32 Yet now, if thou wilt forgive their sin--;
and if not, blot me, I pray thee, out of thy
book which thou hast written.
“ 33- And the LORD said unto Moses,
Whosoever hath sinned against me, him will
I blot out of my book
Rev. 3:5


He that overcometh, the same shall be
clothed in white raiment; and I will
not blot out his name out of the
book of life, but I will confess his
name before my Father, and before his
angels.
What is inferred if the person does
not overcome?
Luke 10:20

Notwithstanding in this rejoice not, that
the spirits are subject unto you; but
rather rejoice, because your
names are written in
heaven.

Rev. 21:27 - And there shall in no wise
enter into it any thing that defileth,
neither [whatsoever] worketh
abomination, or [maketh] a lie: but they
which are written in the Lamb's
book of life.

Rev. 17:8 - The beast that thou sawest
was, and is not; and shall ascend out of the
bottomless pit, and go into perdition: and
they that dwell on the earth shall wonder,
whose names were not written in the
book of life from the foundation of the
world, when they behold the beast that was,
and is not, and yet is.

Phil. 4:3 - And I intreat thee also,
true yokefellow, help those women
which laboured with me in the gospel,
with Clement also, and [with] other my
fellowlabourers, whose names [are]
in the book of life.
Rom. 8:37-39



37 Nay, in all these things we are more than
conquerors through him that loved us.
38 For I am persuaded, that neither death,
nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor
powers, nor things present, nor things to
come,
39 Nor height, nor depth, nor any other
creature, shall be able to separate us from
the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our
Lord.


Psalms 69: 27 Add iniquity unto their
iniquity: and let them not come into thy
righteousness.
28 Let them be blotted out of the
book of the living, and not be written
with the righteous.

Rev. 22:19 says, “And if any man shall take away
from the words of the book of this prophecy, God
shall take away his part out of the book of life,



and out of the holy city, and from the things which
are written in this book.”
Does Rev. 22:19 mean that after a person’s name
is written in the Lamb’s Book
Of Life .it can at some time in the future be erased?
In other words, can a Christian lose his salvation?
Rev. 3:5

He that overcometh, the same shall be
clothed in white raiment; and I will
not blot out his name out of the
book of life, but I will confess his
name before my Father, and before his
angels.
