Registering for UpToDate (UTD) Mobile Access
(UpToDate Anywhere) via North Bay Regional

Includes all the features of UTD access from your computer
• You do NOT usually need to connect to the hospital computer
network, just once a month to prove you are still an employee, but
you can access UTD via the hospital network if you prefer
• Accrue free CME when you use UTD from any device including
your mobile device, once you are logged in Best Practice: Log in
every time you use UTD so your topics and usage are tracked for
CME/CE (applies to Doctors but also Nurses and other
professionals)
• Accrue CME/CE credits from a mobile device but to redeem credits access UTD via a desktop or laptop computer
• The North Bay Regional Health Centre is part of
a group of libraries with a joint license for
UpToDate –this is why you see the message that
your access is provided via the Northern Ontario
School of Medicine (NOSM). When an email
tells you to login via the NOSM network – ignore
that and do what you normally do
• Mobile devices supported:
• iPhone® and iPad®: Install the iOS application at the App Store℠.
• Android™: To install the UpToDate mobile app for Android®
devices, go to Google Play.
• Windows8 tablet: The UpToDate mobile app is available from the
Windows Store icon on your Windows8 start screen. Search for
"UpToDate".
• Blackberries are NOT supported – sorry Blackberry fans

• Access UTD via NBRHC network – one way is go to IntranetLibrary &
Information ResourcesDatabasesUp to Date

• Click on Login/Register = an Orange bar – see a few slides on
• Once registered you will receive an email confirmation with
instructions on how to access the Mobile App. This is a one time
registration, but you will use your username and password to access
UpToDate from mobile apps and via the Hospital network.
• To ensure you are logged in correctly and receiving CME credits,
check to make sure the CME tab appears in the navigation bar as
shown below

• If the CME tab shows up as shown on the previous slide, you are
now registered and ready to begin earning CME.
• UptoDate needs periodic verification that you are still employed
by/affilated with this hospital – see next bullet
• Once every 30 days you need to login to UpToDate via the NBRHC
Intranet – this will ensure continuous mobile access to UpToDate
Username and Password Rules
• Username must be 6 – 50 characters, may
contain numbers and special characters
• Password must b 8 – 24 characters and
contain at least one uppercase letter and
one number OR special character e.g. _ @#*!+=()$
Access from home or private office
• Once you have registered you can use the
NBRHC license for UpToDate even from a
computer outside the hospital network and
you do not have to connect to the hospital
computer network to do so
• Just go to www.uptodate/online, click on
Login and enter your username and
password

network: ignore that and log in via the NBRHC network
Email you will get if you forget to sign in to UpToDate from a computer
on the NBRHC hospital network after you get a reminder email: says
NOSM network, but you should login via the NBRHC network
Message you will see once you sign in from a non mobile device each
month – needed to stay registered as a mobile UpToDate customer
from this hospital
