We were delighted to have the ACP Star of
Clinical Pearls Dr. Scott Litin Speak at Grand
Rounds / Chairman's Conference on
Presentations
This was a very practical guide on how to
make a successful presentation
Dr. Thigpen organized this and
arranged for a workshop afterwards
for the Chief Residents
Leadership Day
Dr. Ben Horton and Dr. Wes Aldred went with
Dr. Woodliff to Leadership Days / It's 2 days in
Washington D.C.
1st day – Preparation by Nationally known
Speakers on the Legislative Process and
Advocacy
2nd day – actual visits with congressmen,
senators, and their staff
Our primary focus this year was increasing
funding for Graduate Medical Education
Evergreen Award
Given to Chapters that foster careers in Internal
Medicine, improve communication, and enhance
diversity
The Mississippi Chapter entered it's Associate /
Resident Council which has accomplished all of
these goals with:
Community service projects like the Wellness Fair
at Jackson Free Clinic
Career mentoring
Debates on Obesity and other health topics
Congratulations to Dr. Calvin Thigpen and our
Residents for their vision and hard work
