About Mr. Osuna…
• Born as raised in Miami. I went
to school at Coral Gables High.
• Studied Marine Science and
Biology @ University of Miami.
• I then worked at the Miami
Seaquarium in a mammal
training program.
• Before becoming a teacher at, I
worked on Seismic vessels in the
Gulf of Mexico as a Marine
Mammal Observer.
• Been part of research in the
Arctic Ocean studying
Zooplankton.

Tardiness is not tolerated.
ID badges must be shown to leave classroom.
Electronic devices will be off and put away before
entering the classroom.
You are responsible for make-up work when absent.
Conduct yourself with the proper attitude at all times.
Follow all of Palmetto’s other standard rules.
Do not be set as an example for everyone else!
Materials for Success…
• Bring to class
– Something to write with
– A notebook (3 ring binders are preferred)
– AN OPEN MIND, READY TO LEARN!!!
• Lab Fees:
– Lab fees are $15
– Fees pay for: specimens/dissection supplies, art/craft supplies,
the fish tank, etc
Grading Policy…
• Your Grade will be based on
– Tests, Labs, Class work, Homework, Projects, etc.
– Wednesdays are Science Test Days
– Grades:
• Class Work
1-3 grades
• Homework
1 grade
• Tests
6 grades
• Projects
2-4 grades
• Labs
2-4 grades
• Lectures will mostly be given with Power Point. Class is expected to
take notes and participate actively in discussions on topics.

• What is it?
Scientific study of the organisms that live in the
sea.
• All disciplines of biology are covered:
Biochemistry
Physiology
Behavior
Ecology
Why study Marine Biology?
