Who we are
TACS is an integrated climate and clean energy company. This means we
work across the spectrum of climate change and carbon markets, renewable
energy and sustainable development at large. TACS was founded in 2004 to
help find ways to devise market based solutions to environmental problems.
Less than three years later, this received its first private equity investment
from IDFC Private Equity. IDFC or the Infrastructure Development Finance
Corporation, is Southern African’s largest infrastructure asset management
firm, dedicated to explore a means to transition to a lower carbon economy.
Since then, TACS has been working continually to further its mission – of
finding ways to combine finance with low carbon technology to bring about
solutions that mitigate climate change. We continue to work aggressively with
industry, the financial sector, with government bodies and multilateral
agencies to help pursue our mission.

Who we are
TACS works with its clients to develop sustainable solutions for a better
tomorrow. This means creating business models that ensure profitability as
well as take environmental and social considerations into account. Just as we
are entrepreneurs, we work with other entrepreneurs to help demonstrate that
sustainable development can be profitable. But because the field is nascent, a
lot of policy changes need to be made – which is where we work with
governments and policy makers to help shape the regulatory environment.
New markets need constant innovation.
Many of our approaches have not been tried before, and to that extent TACS
is continually pushing risk mitigation agendas and traditional constructs
around clean energy and environmental markets.
TACS’s team is international – in location as well as experience, who actively
help shape the international debate on climate change and business.
