Where We Have Come From • Management of Offenders Scotland Act 2005 • MAPPA Units formed 2007 • Fundamental purpose of public safety and the reduction of serious harm • Framework for agencies to work together in assessing and managing risk • Provides consistent approach to identification, information sharing, assessment and management of high risk offenders Where We Are Now • National Guidance developed – now a “living” document • Processes refined and enhanced • Learning from Inspections and SCR’s • Enhanced levels of information sharing • Appropriate use of electronic messaging • Better understanding of purpose/remit Public rather than Corporate protection • More focus upon Risk Management • Clearer and more consistent thresholds • For many - Day to day business!
