BENEFITS OF CYCLING
IN YOUR COMMUNITY
health benefits
economic benefits
reduced traffic, impact on infrastructure
positive impact on air quality
A FEW STATISTICS…
If American drivers replaced just
1 four-mile car trip
by biking 1x a week for 1 year
it would save more
than 2 billion gallons of gas.
A FEW STATISTICS…
The average annual operating cost of a bicycle is
$308 versus $8,220 for the average car
The average American spends 16% of their
income on transportation, more than healthcare
or food.
Cycling reduces this cost.
A FEW STATISTICS…
Because of significantly reduced physical activity,
this is the first time in recorded history where a
generation will have a shorter life span than the
generation that preceded it.
A FEW STATISTICS…
Growth of Cycling: Between 2000 and 2010, the number
of bicycle commuters grew 40% nationwide.
Not everyone drives a car… 33% of Americans do not
drive. Do not neglect them in planning infrastructure
Consider future impact of e-bikes
