BASIC CAPITALIZATION RULES


Capitalize the first word of a sentence.
Capitalize the first word of an item in a list or an
outline.
Use the software to:

Capitalize proper nouns-the names of particular
(specific) people, places, and things.

Watch for instances when the automatic
correction feature in software accidentally
capitalizes a word that should not be
capitalized.
Example:
A typist reference initials are the first
text on a new line at the left margin, so
it is converted automatically to
capitalized.

You will need to proofread carefully to catch
such an error.
