It’s getting serious and we’re taking things to the next level… Faculty StARs Arts and Media * Business, Enterprise and Lifelong Learning (BELL) * Education and Children’s Services * Health and Social Care * Humanities* Life Sciences Science and Engineering Social and Political Science * Not to be confused with Board of Studies reps… These are students who are asked to sit on Board of Studies meetings to inform quality standards in teaching. Faculty StARs Roles and responsibilities: Students interested in being a Faculty StAR (formerly known as Faculty Reps) can put themselves forward for election following the StARs Conference. Faculty StARs have the same responsibility as StARs, as well as some additional responsibilities: Collecting feedback and information from department StARs, Mapping shared issues across the Faculty – collating Faculty SSLM minutes and drawing out key themes, Position on Students’ Union Council to feedback issues directly to Students’ Union, For Life Sciences and SPS we have slightly bigger plans… Chester Students’ Union University Pilot meeting for SPS, Life Sciences and Science and Engineering Faculty StARs Core skills: Organised and methodical – lots of information to dig through BUT rewarding! Critical analysis – not just taking things on face value. Time management Awareness of others and broader opinions Benefits: Position on Union Council to represent the views of your Faculty and to vote on issues that come through Council. Deeper understanding and connection with your department and Students’ Union. StAR with a promotion! Great on your CV and to demonstrate key careers skills. Volunteering hours Faculty StARs Nominations open tomorrow (Tuesday 4th) and close Friday 7th November. Online elections will be held 11th – 13th November with results announced Friday 14th. Training will be provided for Faculty StARs and additional training will be given to those on the pilot scheme.
