Example (p.82)
• All kids need to grow and recharge their
energy, and this happens while they sleep,
but the child athlete needs even more
sleep than the average kid.
• Sleep allows these children to (A)recover
from their workouts.
• Without enough sleep, their muscles
become more sore and tired because the
body does not have enough fuel to
recharge itself.
• (B)Adequate sleep guards against mental
fatigue and keeps the mind fresh.
• It also helps these very busy children
keep up with their other responsibilities,
such as homework and household chores.
• I recommend a (C )minimum of eight
hours of sleep a night.
• When a big competition is ahead, nine or
ten hours of sleep is great.
Example-어휘 (p.82)
• Charge:
• Recharge:
Exercise 1 (p.84)
• How many times have you gone to the
gym and casually lifted the same weights;
done the same exercises; used the same
workout order?
• I’m sure you must have the same lack of
progress.
• (A)A great definition of insanity is doing
the same thing but expecting a different
result..
• Avoid doing it! You really must be
changing the stimulus that’s being
presented on your body if you hope to see
any results develop.
• You don’t have to make massive changes
in your workout, just alter something as
simple as the exercise order, number of
sets performed or rest time duration.
• Do something different every single
session and you are on the path to true
loss.
Exercise 1 -어휘(p.84)
• Insanity: 정신 이상[착란], 광기;
• Insane:
• Path to… : …
• Way to
Exercise 2 (p.83)
• All too often, people ignore an obviously
negative situation instead of dealing with
it straight on.
• Like the proverbial ostrich, they bury
their head in the sand to avoid the awful
circumstances that surround them.
• Ignoring the situation may be too painful
and sometimes they hope that by not
recognizing the situation it will improve
on its own.
• Others may believe that by not
recognizing the negative situation they
cannot be held accountable for not
resolving it.
• This message is, “If I do not see the
problem, I do not have to resolve it.”
• However, nothing is improved by
ignoring potential or existing problem.
• We should raise awareness about the
negative situations that are being ignored.
Exercise 2 -어휘(p.83)
• Ostrich :
• On one’s own : 자기 스스로, 혼자 힘으로
• Resolve :
• Awareness :
• Hold + 사람 +accountable for…
있는(responsible)[to, for ‥; for ‥]
• Hold : [
Exercise 3 (p.84)
• Have you wondered why you like certain
foods and dislike others?
• A part of our food preferences are
biologically (A)programmed.
• For example, humans innately prefer
sweet tastes and are averse to sour tastes.
• In general, our exposure to food
determines the bulk of our preferences.
• If the context in which you were given
broccoli was positive, you probably will
develop a preference for broccoli.
• However, if you always were forced to eat
your beans, you probably will develop a
(B)dislike for beans.
• Basic rewards also play a large role in the
development of our food preferences.
• Foods used as rewards automatically
become preferred.
Exercise 3 -어휘(p.86)
Exercise 4 (p.87)
• The World Cup is an excellent example of
cultural (A)sharing.
• It can be found on the streets of many
cities in the host countries.
• Crowds for these games are definitely
large, and the thousands of people
speaking many different languages are
populating the cities and towns..
• They bring their own home cultures with
them and (B)transform the entire area into
one big melting pot.
• In the end, people will return to their
home countries and people in the host
countries will go on with their lives.
• But a little part of everyone will be
changed through their experiences.
• The great cultural exchange very likely
will have (C )contributed to a greater
understanding of the world around us, all
because of a few games.
Exercise 4-어휘 (p.87)
