• Ongoing (provide evidence of functioning, such as
documentation of goal-setting, assessment, an use of results)
• Integrated (provide evidence that all unites are integrated
in the planning and evaluation processes---especially that
the budgeting process is integrated with planning by all
other units)
• Institution-Wide (provide evidence that all units at the
institution participate in planning and evaluation processes)
• Research-Based (provide evidence that the planning and
assessment processes are supported by research)
Institutional Effectiveness Comprehensive Standard 3.3.1
• The institution identifies expected outcomes, assesses the
extent to which it achieves these outcomes, and provides
evidence of improvement based on analysis of the results
in each of the following areas:
• 3.3.1.1 educational programs, to include student learning
outcomes
• 3.3.1.2 administrative support services
• 3.3.1.3 academic and student support services
• 3.3.1.4 research within its mission, if appropriate
• 3.3.1.5 community/public service within its mission, if
appropriate

– Conduct the assessment
– Analyze the assessment results

Institutional Effectiveness
How can we present what we are doing so
that peer evaluators will see that we are in
compliance with 3.3.1?
Matrix or table clearly identifying the outcome,
the “target,” the means of assessment, and the use
of assessment is one way.
Academic Assessment Plan
(AAP) Update
• AAPs are coming in - thanks
• 11 colleges total with undergraduate
programs
• 7 colleges have turned in 75-100% of their
plans
• Arrangements are in place for all plans to
be submitted by June 30

Next Steps
• I will review and prepare comments for
each plan by mid-July 2012
• Comments go to the Assessment Oversight
personnel with a cc to the SACS liaison
• Revisions will be due September 15
• Academic Assessment Committee will
evaluate the plans using the rubric in the
template in fall 2012
