What to expect at Reyburn Intermediate
 New Teachers and Classmates – it’s a different larger
school and it means new teachers and opportunity to
make new friends.
 New Adjustments – dressing out for PE, changing
classes, five teachers.
 Extracurricular Activities and Athletic Programs – more
choices for students
 Greater Academic Pressure – classes are more difficult,
more homework, expectation to do more on their own
How to Get Good Grades
 Be Organized

use a student planner

Have a separate folder for each class

Phone numbers of classmates in case there are questions

Keep backpack nea

Have everything organized before going to bed


use any extra time in school to get started on homework

Have a regular time to study (expect 2 hours a night)

Break large assignments into smaller parts

Have a good place to study
 Organize your study time
 Large assignments into smaller ones
 Allow more time for homework than you think you’ll
need (2 hours)
 Know how to use a computer (research & write papers).
 Use tricks to help you memorize things (acronyms)
 Know what material will be covered on a test.


 Take Good Notes

As you listen, think about what is being said

Write down key words, important names, dates, and facts
(Cornell Notes).

Take notes that are easy to read.

If your absent, get notes from a classmate or teacher

Learn teachers class rules and expectations
 Be in school, on time, every day
 Have everything you need when you get to class
 Always complete homework
 Participate in class
 Treat others with respect and courtesy
 Don’t leave class with unanswered questions
