ionising radiation and underpins:

Radioactive Sealed Sources

Radioactive Waste
STFC Safety Code 28 Management of
Radioactive Open Sources (in draft)
Key features
Code addresses requirements of legislation for
example:
Ionising Radiation Regulations 1999 (IRR99)
Radioactive Substances Act 1993 (RSA93)
Follows non-nuclear sector best practice for
restricting exposure to ionising radiations to
levels As Low As Reasonably Practicable
(ALARP)

• Radiation Protection Advisers (RPAs)
