It 's a waste any material derived from a human activity and
is intended to abandonment or destruction. Waste is
classified as urban or special, depending on their origin, and
hazardous or non-hazardous, depending on their
characteristics.
The household waste, even those bulky, garbage, vegetable
waste from gardens and parks: these are waste. Special,
however, are derived from industrial processes, as well as
commercial, recovery and disposal of municipal waste are
sludges from treatment and wastewater treatment,
substances and objects is of healthcare equipment and
vehicles motor.
Hazardous waste, municipal or special, are all those that
contain within them high doses of dangerous substances,
such as expired medicines or waste batteries (municipal
waste) or waste oil refining, chemical industry, metallurgy,
leather tanning and textiles (special) and therefore must be
managed with specific procedures.
The production and waste management in the last decades
has shown that growth - from the mid-90s the Italian has
almost doubled - to make it one of the most pressing issues
for the future of the planet. Today, in fact, most end up in
landfills or is incinerated.
Solid waste comprising of garbage and rubbish (such as bottles, cans, clothing, compost, disponsables, food
packaging, food scraps, newspapers and magazines, and yard trimmings) that originates from private homes
or apartments. It may also contain household hazardous waste. Also called domestic waste or residential
waste.
The lack of information and the few skills, combined with safe and
perverse economic and political interests that have made that the
management of waste disposal fall into the hands of criminal
organizations "ecomafia" do nothing but increase the emergency,
while the capacity remaining landfills in our country is a warning
that you should not ignore, but which, on the basis of current and
future needs, require the immediate operational and technological
solutions.
In many Italian regions there are few checks and misused is the
collection of waste. Waste is a cultural problem, missing
information, missing the solution and the waste products are still
provisional and insufficient contributions in landfills.
The situation becomes even more dramatic when it comes to waste,
toxic factories, industries and hospitals, which have to undergo
more complex processes because they contain highly polluting
substances.
The plastic is harmful because of its indestructibility and STAY when dispersed. Not being biodegradable,
it does not dissolve very slowly shatters into smaller and smaller pieces.
Shattering formats reaches more minutes so that it can be ingested by any organism that lives in the oceans
and the tiny crustaceans krill or salps that make up the zooplankton to get up to the whale.
1999: Charles Moore taking samples of water at various levels of depth and analyzing the content in the lab
found that these microparticles plastics exceeded the percentage of zooplankton present in the water
medium in a ratio of 6 to 1 and 30 to 1 in areas most affected.
2007 percentage of plastic has grown fivefold.
Globally, at least 143 marine species that have been victims of plastic (entangled in bags, nets or other
plastic waste and eventually die of starvation, suffocation or drowning) with almost all species of sea
turtles that swallow bags mistaking them for jellyfish.
Being plastic what caused the death of the animal returns free to do other damage once the 'body has
decomposed
It is not possible to determine the total number of different species of marine life every year are victims of
plastic, but according to a recent estimate seems that at least 1 million seabirds and 100,000 marine
mammals and sea turtles die each year by entanglement or ingestion of plastic.
The United Nations estimates that each of us uses about 140 kilograms of plastic
each year. And at least 6.4 million tons of it is over the oceans.

GOLETTA VERDE indicates the presence of real plastic islands in the
Mediterranean Sea, especially in the Tyrrhenian Sea, that is, where
there has made the research of the environmental 136 hours to 3,000
km of coast from Genoa to the Straits of Messina.
95% of waste into the sea consisting of plastic, 41% of which consists
of bags, envelopes, and fragments, 13 different species of waste per
square kilometer.
The problem of waste disposal is becoming a priority on the agenda of the directors at the global level:
landfills, incinerators and indiscriminate abandonment in the territory of each type of waste have become
real emergencies social as well as environmental.
A really serious problem that can not remain indifferent and in front of which there seems to be a way out
of obligation: to try to produce less waste and pollution as possible.
It 'important that this simple message becomes part of our daily actions, at all levels.
Separate collection is the most economical and environmentally sustainable way of managing waste . Its
supply chain creates jobs in the area, enhances what we discard conveying a social message important ,
pollutes little, is easily controlled by the citizens themselves and , very importantly , allows you to
recover 65-85 % of MSW ( municipal solid waste) .
The collection enhances the rejection because it recovers and regenerates , consuming much less energy in
the recycling process compared to producing raw materials . Create wealth, because the denial is true ,
and responds to their true market rules and respects the environment because it does not leave the
burden of disposing of waste to nature.
Produce less waste, you can.
