Tips to keep your apartment clean
White Vinegar
Cheap and versatile –
white vinegar is also a
great household tool!
Grab a gallon and go!
White Vinegar
• Shower, tub and sinks –
– Warm the vinegar and put in a spray bottle
– Spray on surface and allow it to soak for 1015 minutes
– Use nylon scrubbing sponge to clean
• Toilet bowl
– Add 1 cup borax (sold next to laundry
detergent) and 1 cup vinegar to bowl. Soak 2
hours, brush and flush.
White Vinegar
• In drains
– Pour ½ cup of baking soda and ½ cup of
white vinegar down drain monthly to keep
clear (it will foam!). Flush with cold water after
15 minutes.
White Vinegar
• On windows
– Mix ¼ cup with 1 quart of water and spray on
for glass cleaner
• On vinyl floors
– Mix ½ cup with 1 gallon of water for mopping
– Better, use 2 buckets: one with solution and
one with plain water to rinse the mop before
re-dunking in solution!
White Vinegar
• In the wash
– Add ¼ cup in the final rinse to soften clothes
and remove lint from dark clothes
– Spray on sweat stains and soak for 15
minutes to deodorize and minimize stain
Baking Soda
• A great deodorizer, cleaner and mild
abrasive – it can do more than keep your
fridge smelling fresh!
Baking Soda
• In the laundry, treat perspiration stains –
make a paste with baking soda and water,
soak it on area for 30 minutes before
washing.
Baking Soda
• Use as a mild abrasive to clean hard
surfaces (grout, countertops, sinks, tubs)
• Burnt food in casseroles – fill dish with
water and add 1 tablespoon and soak.
Use the right tools
Keeping your apartment clean doesn’t have
to cost a fortune and you can be
environmentally conscious too!
For commercial cleaning products – be sure
to read the package to use correctly.
Clean and Safe
Regular cleaning is important for the
community. Clean apartments are less
likely to host pests (mice, ants, other
bugs). Clean kitchens (especially stoves)
reduce risk of fire and avoidable alarms.
Take an extra minute to wipe surfaces
down!
Thanks!
