Welcome to the SCUSD BTSA Induction Colloquium

May 23, 2011 Serna Community Rooms 4:00-5:30 p.m.

Colloquium Objectives

 Engage in conversations with a community of learners  Summarize key learnings experienced through the FACT process and BTSA Induction participation  Acknowledge professional growth  A venue for celebrating completion of this year’s work and professional growth

Colloquium Share Purpose

 Think holistically about your teaching year  Look at your practice  Identify areas in which growth has occurred  Consider how you will continue your professional growth beyond BTSA

Professional Sharing Activity

 Fortune Cookie Activity  Write “Words of Wisdom” to next year’s participants.

 Use the red and yellow papers  Directions are on the tables

Directions for “Words of Wisdom” Fortune Cookies 1.

Using the square cut-outs of yellow and red paper, write down your words of wisdom about the school year and advice you would share with a new teacher just entering the profession. 2.

If you’d like, sign your name, including your grade level or subject area and school with your wise words. Fortune Cookies may be placed in the bucket by the sign-ins. Your “Words of Wisdom” fortune cookies will be shared with next year’s participants at an event at the beginning of the school year. Thank you for your wise words and participation!

Year Two Next Steps for Clearing Your Credential

 Make sure . . .

 You’ve collected all of your evidence  Both you AND your SP have signed each completion checklist, plus inside Standard 18, if doing Option One  Contact Karla Faucett for exit interview or on btsasupport.com

 Submit binder with exit interview placed in the inside cover (with USD affidavits, if applicable)  Cover needs name, personal email, and home or cell phone

Year Two Next Steps for Clearing Your Credential

 Your binder will be reviewed as soon as possible (you will be contacted if there are additional requirements on your credential that need to be submitted to the BTSA Induction office).

 You will receive an email from Amy or Karla that your binder is ready for pick up.

Year Two Next Steps for Clearing Your Credential

 You will receive an email notification from Karla that your application has been submitted.

 You will receive an email from CTC with a confirmation # and directions on how to submit your online payment.  Once payment has been made, you’ll receive your credential within 50 days
