The Elevator Speech
• also referred to as Elevator Pitch and
Career Brand Sound Bite
• a 15- to 30-second commercial that jobseekers use in a variety of situations
• succinctly tells the person you are giving
it to who you are, what makes you unique,
and the benefits you can provide.
The Elevator Speech
• Useful for
– Events designed specifically for
networking
– Career or job fairs
– Job interviews: "Tell me about yourself"
and "Why should I hire you?“
– Information interviews, when you want to
introduce yourself
The Elevator Speech
• Length can be anywhere from 15
seconds to 3 minutes
• Try to end with a request for action
