Non-Traditional Floats
• Non-traditional Floats are
similar to Traditional Floats,
except that they are pulled by a
vehicle rather than being selfpropelled. Participants may be
seen on this type of float.
Bands
• Features marching bands, drum lines,
honor bands, and alumni bands from
across the Midwest.
Balloons
• Typical large balloons seen in parades
are available for sponsorship. You
are able to choose your own balloon
character. You have the option to
carry the balloon or we will help you
find a group that is interested in
carrying.
Specialty Unit
• This category consists of any
entries that do not fit into the
other available categories.
Specialty Units range from
horses and fire trucks to the
Oscar Meyer Weinermobile.
Performance
• Any group or organization that
would like to perform a type of
musical, theatrical, acting,
dancing, or singing
entertainment. Participants are
encouraged to build a float to
perform on.

VEISHEA Service Day
March 31, 2007
• Kick-off Iowa State’s 150th Anniversary
• Unique opportunity for Ames community to
complete city-wide improvements
• Informal, public meetings will be held to
help plan service projects

Cost
– The cost is free for all volunteers

– Volunteer registration will open February 5th. Register

Become a VEISHEA Aide
• VEISHEA aides help throughout the week of
VEISHEA to make the celebration run efficiently
• Applications are due January 26 at 5:00 pm in
the West Student Office Space of the MU

VEISHEA Village
Saturday, April 21st
• Showcase of Iowa State colleges, clubs
and organizations, and community
organizations
• Many great opportunities for campus
organizations
Four-In-One
• Cy’s Big Top
– Organizations create and display fun games focused
toward children
• Campus Showcase
– Displays of various Iowa State organizations to
showcase accomplishments and happenings
throughout the year
• Cultural Festival
– Opportunity for all multi-cultural groups to showcase
their club and also to sell items they have created
• Village Stage
– Venue for student organization’s performances
Village Open Houses
• Village Open Houses offer a way for campus organizations to
showcase their group during VEISHEA
• The cost to participate in the Village Open Houses is $35 per
group
– Additionally, groups have the option to rent out individual
tents for their display
• All tents, tables and chair rentals go through VEISHEA Inc.
– See next slide for cost breakdown
• Set up any time after approximately 1 a.m. on Saturday
morning must be completed by 9 a.m.
• There is a $40 selling fee for all groups selling items
• “Club Crawl” will be implemented offering prizes to both the
best display and the most dedicated display-goers
Cy’s Big Top
• This is a way for student organizations to raise
funds by setting up games for kids who attend
VEISHEA
• The cost to participate in Cy’s Big Top is $20 per
group. Each group will receive 80% of the value
of tickets collected at their display (at 5 for
$1.00) on Saturday, April 21, 2007
• Set up any time after approximately 1 a.m. on
Saturday morning must be completed by 9 a.m.
Cultural Festival
• This is an opportunity for all multi-cultural groups
to showcase their club and also to sell items
($40 selling fee)
• Held under a tent on Central Campus on
Saturday April 21 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
• The cost to participate in the Cultural Festival is
$20 per group. Each group will receive 80% of
the value of tickets collected at their display (at 5
for $1.00) on Saturday, April 21, 2007
• Set up any time after approximately 1 a.m. on
Saturday morning must be completed by 9 a.m.
Village Stage
• Located on central campus, north of campanile
• Groups perform skits, lyrical dances, etc.
• Performances begin on Saturday April 21 at
noon and end at 5 p.m.
• Groups can request performance time slots in 15
minute increments with a one hour time limit
– Groups with a 30 minute or less show may perform
twice during the day, depending on time availability
How to Become Involved
• Fill out a display draft and contract that can be found on the
VEISHEA website at www.veishea.iastate.edu.
• Turn in a display draft by February 15 by 11:00 p.m.
– Accuracy is imperative on these drafts!
• Turn in a contract VEISHEA office in the West Student Office
Space of the MU on February 21 by 5:00 p.m..
– All money is also due at this time!
• Attend a builders meeting on March 21 or 22.
• Showcase your organization on VEISHEA Saturday,
April 21.

• Store Front Window Painting
– Great PR for club/organization
– Spices up appearance of Campustown
– Visible for whole week of VEISHEA
Campus Showcase
Mon-Fri, 10am-2pm
• Each year Iowa State’s colleges are given
the opportunity to sponsor a day on
campus. This includes:
– BBQ
– Tents/tables/etc.
– Ability to showcase college on central campus
