Permanent working focus: • Exchange of municipal actions to implement the UN-Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities • Exchange of experience with solutions of design for all in urban areas • European and national standards on accessibility

Challenges for cities in Europe

• Accessibility has to be integrated from the outset of the planning of environments, products and services • Implementation of common standards • Implementation of common graphical symbols • Local support groups to implement Design for All in the planning process • Binding agreements to apply manuals and guidelines

BERLIN – City for All SUMMARY OF RECOMMENDATIONS: • The EU should help disseminate city experiences on the design of information in public spaces and public transport facilities, with requirements for the prevention of risks. This particularly affects the needs of people: • with walking or mobility disabilities • with visual impairments • with hearing impairments • with cognitive disabilities • the elderly and children
