ACCOMMODATION AT BIRMINGHAM CITY UNIVERSITY What we offer • The University owns or manages accommodation for over 1,800 students at eight sites across the city • Students from outside Birmingham who make us their first choice and apply by the deadline are guaranteed a place in halls for their first year of study • All halls have CCTV and 24-hour security patrols • Student Assistants provide support and staff are available during office hours • Public transport runs between halls and all University sites • Adapted accommodation for those with special needs • Prices include energy bills and basic internet package Opal One Watch the Opal 1 video Curzon Gateway Watch the Curzon Gateway video Jennens Court Watch the Jennens Court video Costs and facilities • (to follow) Opal 1 £113 per week (2012/13) 180 en suite rooms organised into four and six-bedroom flats, with shared kitchen and lounge facilities. Other facilities: > Common room with satellite TV > Laundrette > Gym > Car parking Curzon Gateway £108 per week (2012/13) 150 en suite rooms split into a mix of four, five and sixbedroom flats, with shared kitchen and lounge facilities. Other facilities: > Free broadband connection > Laundrette > Gym > Car parking > On-site security. Jennens Court £110 per week (2012/13) 280 en suite rooms in three to six-bedroom flats, each with a shared kitchen and lounge. Other facilities: > Common room with satellite TV > Laundrette > Car parking and bike store What else? • Once you have accepted your room offer ensure you complete the online induction as it provides lots of useful information and advice for living in halls • All halls are non-smoking • Bring your own bedding, towels, crockery, cutlery and cooking utensils • If you bring a TV you will need a licence • Upgraded internet services are available • Large electrical appliances (fridge, freezer, heater) and candles are not permitted • Overnight visitors are permitted if pre-booked How to Apply • You can apply as soon as you firmly accept a course offer using our online application form • You will receive unique application reference number which you should use in all correspondence with us • Allocation of rooms begins early July for students with unconditional course offer • Allocation for students with conditional offers will begin once exam results are known • Accommodation not guaranteed for insurance/clearing applicants but we will endeavour to offer you a place Further Information For full details see www.bcu.ac.uk/accommodation Tel: +44 (0) 121 331 5191/5192 Email: [email protected]
