42% of WV Women reported their
pregnancy was unintended.
(pregnancy wanted later or not at
all)
Most unintended pregnancies were
reported by single women (over
60%).
Over 40% of unintended pregnancies
are to women 20-29 years of age.
Over 30% of unintended pregnancies
were reported by WV married
women.

Declined from 1997 through 2005, then
increased in 2006 and 2007

Increase is accounted for in the 18-19 age
group

WV teen birth rate is higher than national
average (2006)

16.5% of WV high school students had had
4 or more sexual partners (higher than
national average 14.9% in 2007)
