The main changes include: – Reduce the lecture content on the planning of drills. – Increase curriculum on planning and conduct of exercises – Include role play demonstration of an exercise – Inclusion of logistic planning – Increase the duration from 3 days to 4 days to include planning and conduct of additional exercise. – conduct of “hot wash-ups” and debriefs 33rd APEC Transport Working Group Meeting – Japan 2010 Review of APEC D/E Manual • To ensure the APEC D/E Manual is a live document that remain current, relevant and to encourage usability, it should be reviewed to further enhance its quality and applicability. 33rd APEC Transport Working Group Meeting – Japan 2010 Review of APEC D/E Manual • The key areas for improvement are: – Further simplified the planning processes. – Integrate current exercises to enhance realism. – Include current security events and incorporate various IMO MSC updates. 33rd APEC Transport Working Group Meeting – Japan 2010 Review of APEC D/E Manual • The key areas for improvement are (Cont) : – Develop one more Principle Exercise. – Incorporate new best practices – Address requirements for effective communication. 33rd APEC Transport Working Group Meeting – Japan 2010 Review of APEC D/E Manual • The key areas for improvement are (Cont) : – Provide guidelines on management of tabletop exercise. – Provide amplifications to the differences between drills and exercises and their characteristics. – Review and re-design the “expected response” in the Master Event List. 33rd APEC Transport Working Group Meeting – Japan 2010 Conclusion • Note the progress made in the implementation of the training workshops associated with the APEC D/E Manual. • Strong appreciation on the benefits of the APEC D/E Manual. • Consider the further proliferation of APEC D/E Manual to wider user base amongst APEC Economies • Endorse the need to review the APEC D/E Manual to ensure its continual validity, relevance and up datedness. 33rd APEC Transport Working Group Meeting – Japan 2010 Thank You 33rd APEC Transport Working Group Meeting – Japan 2010
