Demonstration activities or common resources for research. • Objective driven research dealing with either different issues through a programme approach or focussed on a single issue through a project approach • Activities: Research, demonstration, training, innovation linked activities, management • 24-60 months Collaborative projects • At least three legal entities established in different EU Member States of Associated Countries. The entities must be independent of each other. • The number of participants and volume of resources should be compatible with overall objective and manageability. • Target audience: – – – – Research institutes Universities Industry including SMEs Possibly potential endusers Collaborative projects • Distinctions between different forms of collaborative project, based on budgetary thresholds, may be made on call by call basis! – Projects can range from small or medium scale focused research actions to large scale integrating projects for achieving a defined objective. – Any limits will be applied as an eligibility criteria and will be specified in the call text. Collaborative projects in NMP • Small or medium scale focussed projects ‘For small and medium scale focussed research projects the maximum EC funding requested must not exceed € 4 Million’ • Large scale integrating projects ‘For large scale integrating projects the minimum EC funding requested must exceed € 4 Million’ • SME-targeted projects ‘At least 35% of the EC contribution will be allocated to the participating SMEs For SME targeted projects no upper or lower limits in EC contribution are applied’ Collaborative projects • Different possibilities in each Thematic area – Example: transport programma – Aeronautics and Land transport • Division only based on the budget? No! There are differences: -large scale integrating project -small and medium scale focussed project -SME-targeted Guide for applicants Networks of Excellence • Durable integration of the participants’ research activities/capacities with a view to creating a ‘European virtual centre of research in a dedicate field • Activities: – Joint programme of Activities – Management of the consortium – Training dissemination and communication activities • 48-60 months NoE: Joint Programme of activities – Combination and complementary use of resources of the participants such as mutual access to infrastructure, equipment, material data and knowledge – Exchange of researchers, managers and technicians – Redesign of the research portfolias and the research priorities and the reallocation of the resources Network of Excellence • At least three legal entities established in different EU Member States of Associated Countries. The entities must be independent of each other. • The number of participants should be manageable, a range between three and seven participants would seem to be optimal for NoE • Target audience: – Research institutes – Universities – Industry possibly through steering committees, governing boards, scientific committees, take up actions (SME) Guide for applicants Coordination and support actions • Coordination actions: Consistent set of activities focussing on coordination of research activities and policies – Networking, coordination and dissemination activities • Support actions: normally focused on one specific activity and often one specific event – Conferences, seminars, workshops, working groups, studies, fact finding monitoring, strategy development, awards and competitions, working or expert groups, operational support and dissemination, information and communication activities • No funding of research, development or demonstration • Duration: few months – 48 months Coordination and support actions • For coordination of research activities: – at least three legal entities established in different EU Member States of Associated Countries. The entities must be independent of each other. • For other coordination and support actions: – at least one legal entity • The number of participants and volume of resources should be compatible with overall objective and manageability. • Target audience: – Research institutes, Universities, Industry including SMEs, Guide for applicants Joint Technology Initiatives • Stimulating public private partnership • It comprises of the research and technology development activities up to the highest technology readiness, focusing on the combination of systems and the final proof in the appropriate operational environment of the comprised technologies in fully integrated system of systems. • Total management outside commission • Programmes 500- 2000 Million Euro • Separate calls for applicants to do parts of the work • Networking is starting now! Concluding remarks • Different types of projects possible in Cooperation part of 7th Framework programme • Call text, Work Programme and Guide for Applicants for a specific programme can give specifications!!! • FP7 on Cordis cordis.europa.eu.int/fp7/home.h tml • SenterNovem/EG-Liaison Dr. Ir.
