Part 1: Next Generation Barcode
The Next Generation Barcode
Can be a linear or 2D barcode.
Can be a visible or invisible barcode.
Visible Barcode:
Can be read by end-users via mobile apps.
Invisible Barcodes:
Extra layer of covert security.
Minimal use of the package real estate.
Combining Authentication and Track & Trace
The barcode is marked with taggant* ink.
Marking can be achieved by:
Printing the barcode with marked ink (TTR).
Overprinting the barcode with tagged* varnish.
Marking an “area” on the barcode with tagged*
varnish.
Marking the area near the barcode with tagged ink.
Adding a taggant based hologram near the barcode.
Once marked, the barcode can be authenticated with
ScanSure.

What is Taggant Technology?
Taggants = Chemical markers invisible to the human eye.
Acts like a fingerprint marking each item with a unique code.
Once applied, taggants make items machine-readable and
protected from counterfeit.
Item authenticity can be verified in seconds.
Requires no changes to be made to your current production
