GLOBAL LEADERSHIP
DINA Y. SULAEMAN
WHAT IS LEADERSHIP?
Versus
WHAT IS GLOBAL?
WORLDWIDE - UNIVERSALENTIRELY - GENERAL
GLOBALIZATION

It is process of interaction and integration
among the people, companies, and
governments of different nations, a
process driven by international trade and
investment, and aided by information
technology.
People are closer together.
World is nearly without borders.
Good, services, and ideas move faster or
instantly.Tansportation and communication is
faster and easier.
IT SOUNDS GOOD... but...

Globalization is INTEGRATION
INTEGRATION means YOU MERGE into
one entity, raise the boundaries, total free
market, free capital mobility.
 A transnational corporation established a
factory in one country. The other day,
they can just go and move the money to
the other country, leave behind the poor
workers. In this situation, the big
corporations can undermine the
government/the state.

I beg you do not think of colonialism only in classic
form. ...Colonialism has also its modern dress, in
the form of economic control, intelectual control,
actual physical control by a small but alien
community within a nation. It is a skillful and
determined enemy, and it appears in many guises.
(President Sukarno, Asian-African Conference,1955)
Is there alternative for globalization?
YES, INTERNATIONALISM
(there are many versions of definition)
WHAT WE MEAN:
INTER + NATIONS
Countries cooperate each other in mutual
interest
THE SPIRIT OF ASIAN-AFRICAN
CONFERENCE 1955
Countries cooperate each other
in mutual interest, in federal way.
There are rules of conduct, but
the states has the highest
authority, not INDIVIDUAL, not
TRANSNATIONAL
CORPORATION, not the
INTERNATIONAL BANKs.
“Live and let live the principle “Unity in Diversity”, the unifying
force which brings us all together”
“Each of us can live in his own life, and let others live their own
live”
THE LIGHT OF UNDERSTANDING HAS AGAIN BEEN LIT.
THE PILLARS OF COOPERATION ASIAN-AFRICAN AGAIN
ERECTED.
(President Sukarno, 1955)
ASIAN-AFRICAN countries represent 75% of the
world’s population, 5,5 billion people, and 30 % of the
global economy.
Most African and Asian countries need is investment.
THE PROBLEM:
 Investment funds often come from North America
and Europe.
 The very rich transnational corporations owned by
North people
SOLUTION:
South-South Cooperation must be improved
The Asia and African countries must be united:
providing aid, assistance, and trade to each other.
WTO (“global economic
integration”)
Rule: no subsidies for farmer, let them fight in
free market
Fact:
"The EU and the US are cheating on the poor.
They are telling poor countries that they
have to open their markets in return for
cuts in farm subsidies in the West, but in
reality they are paying out billions of pounds
in secret subsidies to their farmers.”
(Oxfam Report)
When we say “US” or Europe..
It means: the giant transnational corporations
(TNCs). These TNCs strength is so great that
monopolize the food market and dominate the
formulation of the rules of international food
International food trade is now dominated by
transnational corporations (TNCs) in the field of
food, such as Monsanto, ADM, Bunge, Cargill, and
Dreyfus. ADM, Bunge, Cargill and (Louis) Dreyfus
is known as ABCD, four TNCs that control about
75% to 90% of the trade of grains (wheat, corn,
etc.) world.
This model of community
offered by Asian African
Conference 1955 is
DIFFERENT from “Global
Economic Integration
Community”
IS IT POSSIBLE?
YES, BUT WE NEED
TRUE GLOBAL
LEADERS.
?
How to be a global leader?
1.
UNDERSTAND THE CULTURE OF
NATIONS
Global leaders must understand the
culture if nations very well. The ability to
work accross culture is very essential for
global leaders. We also must understand
our own culture and the impact when
communicating with other culture. A true
global leader must be able to be flexible to
lead people from other culture.

To develop this ability, we have to meet
and greet other people, talk each other,
discuss together. And that’s why we are
here today.

You have to know the other cultures
from the first hand information. Please do
not always count on GOOGLE 100%.
Do you know how many peoples
died because of misinformation?
Misinformation is
dangerous, very
dangerous.
The TRUE GLOBAL
LEADERS must have
open mind and know
how to filter the
informations.
2. USING TECHNOLOGY

In leading a global team, distance is barrier.
We are no longer working face to face. So
we have to develop ability to use technology
of media and communication to overcome
this barrier.

Unfortunately, today, some world powers are
using technology of media and
communication to keep misinforming people,
to deceive people, and even to launch the
wars.

US and some countries in 1991 launched a war in Kuwait, saying
that Iraqi forces killing the babies in Kuwait.

In 2003, they invade Iraq, by saying there are a biological weapons in
Iraq, million dies, the country is destroyed, but until now, no
biological weapon has been found.

In 2011, NATO bombarded LIBYA, saying that they wanted to help
LIBYAN People. They said Libya people is oppressed by Qaddafi
regime and need to be liberated.

2015, the Saudi Forces and some other countries, are bombarding
Yemen, saying that the people of Yemen need to be liberated from
the Houthi rebel.
Is it true, what they say about the
pretext of war?
See film 2


Before-After NATO Bombing in
Libya

Before: Libya is considered to be the
Switzerland of the African continent and is
very rich and schools are free for the people.
Libya had the highest Human Development
Index in Africa. No foreign debt. Invested
more than USD 150billion overseas.

After NATO Bombing: the country is
destroyed, and must rebuilt it with DEBT
from international banks IMF, WB, etc)
Syrian War
Western and "Muslim" medias keep spreading the wrong
information about Syria. Moslems from more than 80
countries are coming to Syria for jihad. One of jihadis
groups in Syria is ISIS; it uses facebook and twitter to call
people from all over the world to join them.
Let’s see how they use technology
of media to drive the war...

LIBYA, SAUDI ARABIA, the countries that
now are involved in war in Middle EAST
they were THE PARTICIPANT OF 1955
ASIAN AFRICAN CONFERENCE. WHO
drives them into war at each other? Who
gains the advantage of this wars?
The last questions:
 Is
it possible for Asian-African
people to be the true global
leader?
 Is it possible for the third world
people to rise and lead the
world?
