You can often apply online directly to an individual
College or University or use the Common Application,
entering your information just once.
You could also download the application form,
complete the details required on it and then post it to
the institution.
Colleges are generally smaller that Universities.

The average college application fee is around $25.
(Some colleges charge up to $60, while others don't
have an application fee at all.)
The fee is usually nonrefundable, even if you're not
offered admission.
Check the College that you are applying to about
specific application fees.

If it comes with your admission
materials, you should give it to the
Counselor to complete as early as
possible.

Some colleges send this form directly to
your school after receiving your
application.

A Transcript is a record of your results from grade 9
through to grade 12
The school provides transcripts throughout the application
process.
Transcripts ordered after your graduation is subject to a
processing fee of SR50.
Egyptian students will be informed about when they could
order these special transcripts (towards the end of the year).

This can be written by your teachers, counselor, or
principals – they should know you fairly well to
write a letter of recommendation for you.
Many colleges/universities ask you to submit one or
more letters of recommendation from a teacher or
your school counselor.
When we start with the college application process
we ask teachers to write these letters well before
the colleges’ deadline.

DO NOT ask teachers yourself to write letters for
you or to complete forms that you get from
Colleges – this must be given to the Counselor’s
office and we will give this to teachers.
This is done so that we have a record of where you
are with your application and to maintain our
professionalism in handling recommendation
letters.

At many colleges, you have to submit SAT®, SAT Subject Test, or ACT
test scores.
ESL students may need their TOEFL scores
Test scores are a standard way of measuring a student's ability to do
college-level work.
Since each College has their own requirements, it is your responsibility
to check up the College’s website to see what they require.

If you're applying to private colleges, your essay often plays
a very important role.
Your Essay can be an autobiographical statement or can
have a specific theme.
Use this as an opportunity to express your individuality so
that you stand out when you are compared to other
applicants.

All parts of your application must be
consistent and create a consistent portrait
of who you are and what you'll bring to the
college.
If your essay or interview contradicts
information you gave on other forms, this
may cause admission officers to have doubts
about accepting you.
If all the parts of your application are filled
out honestly and carefully, your chances of
acceptance will be more positive.

Many Colleges and Universities offer
Scholarships and Financial Aid.
You need to research this yourself and print
out the necessary forms to be completed.
Often universities ask for a reference from
your school counselor – in this case there is
a reference form that needs to be completed
by your counselor.

Keep copies of everything that you submit

Have the same and correct spelling of your name throughout your
application- let the Counselor’s office know timeously about name changes
Be sure that your name is spelled on your transcripts and diplomas as
required by governmental departments and universities.

When a College sends you a letter of
acceptance – keep in mind that this is
CONDITIONAL – this means that your final
acceptance depends on your final results –
this is often written in small print and
students fail to read this – hence the poor
behavior and lack of interest in students once
they complete their applications.

Ms Misha by completing a request form.
 Don’t
waste time waiting to see me if you need
to make a request for a transcript or report
card or recommendation letter. Simply
complete the request form.
