1. Never add black to create a shadow; create shadows with
cool hues like purple.
2. Never add black to create a darker value; use the
complementary colour.
3. Use white highlights on veins coloured cool/purple red.
4. Use yellow highlights on arteries coloured warm/yellow reds.
5. Colour of reflected light is related to near neighbours.
6. Never create a colour illustration with a half-tone undertone
if you want it to be “brilliant”!
