Thermochromic materials
Liquid crystals that can be used as thermometers
because they change colour at specific temperatures.
They can also be used to tell when a liquid is at a
precise temperature, such as in kettles and irons.
Baby bottles and drinks mugs
Thermochromic paints change colour at different
temperatures

Shape memory alloys
Return to their original shape when put into hot
water.
So a spring that had become distorted could be
returned to its original shape simply by placing it in
a jug of hot water.
This could be a great material to make glasses
frames from. If you accidentally sat on them just
pop them into hot water and they would go back
to their original shape.

Polymorph
A thermoplastic that comes in granular form and
can be melted together in hot water 60oC
The plastic goes from white coloured granules to
transparent and can be easily moulded by hand
or cut with scissors
As it cools it becomes tougher and goes back to
its original white colour
