Why?
Encourage a colleague or team member to use the
service if they are experiencing difficult personal
circumstances or showing signs of stress.
Types of issues:
• relationship breakdown
• bereavement
• family problems
• legal issues
• financial difficulties/debt

Why?
Take steps to ensure you have given a colleague
adequate support during a period when
circumstances are causing their performance at work
to suffer.
Types of issues:
• conflict with other team members
• frequent sickness absence
• suspected alcohol or drug abuse or an eating
disorder

Discuss the situation with HR
Set aside time to have a private discussion with the employee
to gain consent
Call AXA ICAS and state you wish to make a formal referral
You will be given a Case Reference Number
You will hear if the individual has or has not made the call
