Routines

   Reading – – – Once a week Group Guided reading Individual reading Weekly spellings – Set on a Thursday (test the following week). Spelling activity set Thursday.

Weekly mental maths – Set on Wednesday (test on following Wednesday).

Home Learning…

    Subjects – Literacy, Mathematics, Abacus Time – 30-40 minutes.

Diaries Reading – Daily is beneficial

How to help your child with home learning

   Establish a routine with your child: a set time and place for home learning to be done Check what tasks have been set and that your child understands what needs to be done Encourage independence: facilitate not dominate!

Expectations

In Year 4, the children will be encouraged to:  Further develop their ability to work independently as well as part of a group  Access exploratory schemes of learning  Build up on existing knowledge and explore new methods
