Hertfordshire Health Walks
a popular county wide
programme of free
short, regular walks
led by trained
volunteers and graded
to suit all fitness levels
and abilities
Harpenden & Villages Health Walks
Walks take place throughout
the town and surrounding
villages all year round, on a
weekly or fortnightly basis,
including weekends and
evenings during the summer.
This summer check out five of
our Olympic Health Walks
and get a prize.
See the website or pick up a
leaflet for details.
Why walk?
• a great way of meeting new people - most
walks finish in the pub for a drink and a natter
• a chance to get outside in your local green
spaces and countryside – helping to combat
stress, depression and anxiety
• brisk walking helps reduce the risk of diabetes,
Alzheimer's, bowel cancer and can help
prevent osteoporosis, high blood pressure,
stroke and coronary heart disease
What our health walkers say…
“The health walks are just great.
Excellent leaders, good routes,
good pubs for a drink afterwards.
Thanks!”
“In the days of the credit
crunch what can be
better than a good walk
followed by a cup of tea
– good for us and our
wallet!”
“The concept of graded walks is a very
positive idea. Together with other
participants my health has improved
via various strategies and the walks for
health are an important component.”
