CAPACITY BUILDING
 We are providing a Capacity Building
programme alongside the grant
programme
 Capacity Building events / training
will be open to all organisations that
are eligible to apply for a grant
 Survey to find out what
organisations need for Capacity
Building
PRIORITIES
Small charitable Voluntary and
Community Sector
Organisations with an annual income
of less than £300,000 and less than 9
FTE employees
Assisting people furthest removed
from the labour market
PRIORITIES
Beneficiaries must be unemployed or
employed for less than 16 Hours per week
Disadvantaged in the labour market
Over 19 years of age
Looking to move forward-gain new skills –
increase their confidence
SPECIFIC TARGETS FOR THE
PROGRAMME
 22% with disabilities and health
conditions
 12% who are lone parents
 18% who are aged 50 and above
 7% from ethnic minority groups
 51% are Female
WHAT CAN BE APPLIED FOR?
Projects which move those furthest
removed from the labour market toward
employment
Training, confidence building activitiesdepends on the client group
Activities which overcome barriers to
learning
Training can be accredited or non
accredited
WHAT CAN THE FUNDING
COVER?
All costs associated with the delivery of
the project
Staff costs, venue costs, training costs
support costs to enable people to take part
It must be a project
THE PROJECT
Possibly the most important section
Be clear about who the project is for- who
is it aimed at-look again at the criteria-make
sure you are addressing these
How are you going to measure what you
have achieved?
BUDGET
Include breakdown of all costs-as much as
possible do not just put in percentages
•
Consider what administration costs you might have
associated with this programme.
Equipment- only up to £500 allowable per
application-not likely to support costs of IT
equipment as a short project

REPORTING BACK
–INDIVIDUAL PARTICIPANTS
You will be required at the start to
complete a Learner Enrolment form for every
participant who takes part (simple almost
tick box form)
At the start decide how you will measure
what each individual has achieved-keep it
simple and clear(Individual Learner Plans)
Also need records of numbers activities
undertaken-all the numbers stuff
(Attendance registers) and completion form
REPORTING BACK
–Grant Monitoring
Simple form to complete halfway through
your project
End of grant monitoring form which will
collect a wider range of information and give
you a chance to tell us more about your
project
Case studies
REPORTING BACK-Financial
Need to keep all receipts and
records/proof of expenditure
Need to complete a form that shows how
you have spent the money
If it becomes clear for whatever reason
that you will not spend all the money get in
touch with us as soon as possible - we can
re-allocate
TIME SCALES
 Programme 1 opened on:
Monday March 17th 2014
 It will close 4 weeks after it opens
 Assessment will involve two assessors
-no visits or phone calls
 Panel meets within two weeks of the
completion of the assessments
 There are plans for two more grant
rounds to follow close on the first grant
round.
