Core Issue for Wheat in Rabi:
How to sustain the productivity?
Strategy:
 Capacity building of field functionaries and farmers
 Improvement in SRR and VRR
 Replacement of PBW-343 in semi-hilly areas to arrest the
incidence of yellow rust.
 100% Seed Treatment
 Timely sowing by ensuring timely and adequate availability
of inputs.
 Promotion of INM and IPM
 Propagation of Resource Conservation Technologies.
CAPACITY BUILDING OF FIELD FUNCTIONARIES
AND FARMERS
Two-day workshop for staff of Department of Agriculture, KVKs and
FASS regarding rabi crops on 19-20 August, 2010.
District/block/Village-level Farmers Training Camps in collaboration
with PAU
Awareness campaign through print and electronic media
Road side panels and hoardings under National Food Security Mission
Demonstration plots, field days and Farmers Field Schools
Display boards depicting details of components and rate of assistance
available under various schemes at each office
Awareness campaign amongst farmers for use of Kisan Call Centre.

of rabi 2010-11.
Fungicide for 75000 quintals of seed being provided under
NFSM and for 2.5 lac quintals of seed under RKVY.
Campaign for Seed Treatment during the sowing season.
PROMOTION OF INM AND IPM

PROMOTION OF BARLEY CROP
 About 12,000 ha. Under Barley during 2009-10 and average
productivity 3912 kg/ha.
 Mostly sown under Contract Farming with UB and 9000 ha.
planned during 2010-11.
 Seed provided by UB – Varieties DWRUB-52 and VJM- 315
 Procurement at a price equal to MSP of wheat or market
price which ever is more.
