Implement Advanced Surface Movement Guidance and Control
System (A-SMGCS) Level 1
• This objective aims at implementing an airport surface surveillance
system that provides ATC with the position and automatic identity
of all relevant aircraft on the movement area & all relevant vehicles
on the manoeuvring area;
• The applicability area is presented in Table 8 of Part IV Annex B of
the ESSIP 2012 document;
• Initial operational capability - 01/2007, Full operational capability 12/2011

• A-SMGCS Level 1 is a pre-requisite for A-SMGCS Level 2. Has
to be completed in order that A-SMGCS Level 2 is completed.
