Our Policy:

 We believe that it is of paramount importance that students are stretched and challenged at SWCHS.

 This will::  Inspire and motivate them  Enable them to fulfil their potential  Maintain their engagement

Why does it matter?

 Special Educational Need  Differentiated and personalised curriculum  Higher standards or expectations are for the benefit of all: “a rising tide lifts all ships”

How do we identify which students to stretch and challenge?

 We aim to stretch and challenge each child according to his/her ability  We have a staff register of students who have demonstrated an aptitude for a particular subject  Teacher identification is supplemented and supported by careful use of data and test scores  Liaison with feeder primary schools in Year 6

 Principal provision: differentiation and stretch and challenge within lessons  An extra-curricular enhancement programme – this may include:  Lectures  Challenge activities  Trips/visits  Workshops  Competitions
