NWHPEC Board Meeting
August 28, 2014 at Con-way Enterprise Services
In Attendance: Jennifer Ayers, Richard Carroll, Bryan Goodman, Kyle Stavig, Julie Simmons
Adjourned at 1:30pm
Financial Update (Mike):
- P&L and Balance Sheet are looking solid. Julie’s Q2 salary and expenses
from ESCO are still to be received.
Event Updates (Julie):
- Learning Tours: Next up: September 9th at Columbia Machine and
September 23rd at Oracle America. Events are still filling up and
participation is great.
- Training Classes: September 16th Introduction to Lean at Axiom.
Instructors are Bob Szeimies and Mike Funke. Class is full.
- Executive Forum’s: Dan Miller’s Lean and the Human Element Part IV
was well attended and evaluation scores were high. Julie is booking Dan
for a 2nd five-part series in 2015 due to the overwhelming demand from
within NWHPEC. Sessions will run back to back: Wednesday’s and
Thursday’s to reduce Dan’s travel (we’ll put him up in a local hotel). Next
up: Practical Problem Solving with Mike Hoseus, Workshop at
Benchmade. Event is filling nicely and should sell out. Julie is continuing
to work with Mike on our 2015 EMDS and Hoshin sessions with a telecom
scheduled with Climax in September as a potential host for the EMDS
Workshop.
- Best Practice Sharing Session: Switching January 2015 session to an
Executive session with David Marquet, author of Turn the Ship Around.
Julie will contact David to inquire about his availability in that timeframe.
Board suggested personally inviting other exec’s to this session via phone
calls. Julie will break contact list equally between the Board Directors and
provide names, company’s, and phone numbers by October.
Next Board Meeting:
Dial: 866-848-2216
Conf. ID: 3855041962#
September 25th via telecom
Noon – 2:00pm
Old Business:
- NWHPEC Organizational Update: Julie’s last day with ESCO is
Friday, August 29th. Julie will work with ESCO’s I.T. to move her
files and email onto the tablet. Luke, our I.T. guy, will work with Julie
to set up her email with the nwhpec.org address and make other
necessary changes to the website.
New Business:
- eLearning for NWHPEC members: Julie attended an eLearning
meeting hosted by Worksystems. Three potential “users” attended.
Julie has concerns Worksystems will purchase a system to meet
those three users needs without understanding what their entire
region may or may not need regarding eLearning. Julie will continue
to work with Worksystems to help them find a way to get a deeper
understanding of their current state.
- AME Paid Registration: NWHPEC has one AME Conference
registration pass available. The Board discussed options as to who
we could gift the pass to and ultimately decided to sell it for the paid
value. Julie will communicate this to the membership.
