The mission that we were given was
to pick a subject that interested us
go out and collect data and then
bring the data back to class.
12dozen
.0005cents/oz
19 times
100,000,000 light years
For you see,
algebra is about
gathering and
analyzing data.
66
18 laps
5 mi/hr
And our data board was empty
By library,by interview,by internet!
So we accepted our mission, went into the world…
to gather data.
Olympic swim times.
Automobile fatalities per
year.
Cigarettes
smoked.
Hours spent
sleeping.
Barry Bond’s
homerun count.
Hours spent outside.
We came back to class with our
data, then went to work.
We worked on ways to represent our data.
We worked, worked and worked.
Then we went to the computer lab to
convert our data to excel graphs.
And here is the work for our all of our
efforts...

The trend is a steady
decline in deaths.
What is the
rate per year?
This graph is showing an upward trend, with a
few dips.

What is the rate of increase per set?
This information does not seem to have a special
pattern but it does seem to indicate where the
weekend is on the graph.

Three years from now what should the winning time be?
We did what we set out to do!!
We collected data.
We drew our graphs.
We analyzed our data.
