Sun-A Im et al.: International Immunopharmacology 5, 2005 * MAP contains <5 kDa - > 2000 kDa PS with 3X increase in max active PS fraction ** 1999 MAP paper identified a specific PS MW max activity of 80 kDa. 2005 paper did not determine specific MW max. The Patented MAP Process Bioactivity Guided Process Development It has been noted that diverse results are reported in clinical studies using Aloe vera. This may be explained in part by the observation that researchers commonly do not determine the composition of aloe used in studies and, in particular, the content or molecular weight distribution of acetylated mannan polysaccharides. Aloecorp is unique in this respect. Researchers using Aloecorp products are provided with extensive analytical characterization of the test material. As a result, consistent results have been published by these researchers. Most importantly, all Aloecorp products are manufactured by our patented processing method based on the results of our bioactivity guided processing research. The polysaccharide content and molecular weight distribution of every batch of aloe produced by Aloecorp is determined by HPLC size exclusion chromatography The Patented MAP Process Aloecorp’s patented processing method • Increases important MW fraction 3X • Stabilized by HTST inactivation • Guaranteed PS content • Substantiated bioactivity monosaccharide cellulase Immune Restoration (% Recovery) In vivo topical application 100% 75% Modified Aloe Polysaccharide (MAP) 50 – 200kD 75% 50% 25% 6% 25% 15% 0% 5-10 10-50 50-200 200-2000 Polysaccharide Molecular Size (kD) Timed inactivation of cellulase The Patented MAP Process Global Research Original research of Aloecorp’s Aloe vera products • Antigenotoxic Activity Carcinogenesis 1997 • Anticarcinogenic Activity Carcinogenesis 1999 • Stimulates Antioxidant Production Journal of Nutritional Science & Vitaminology. 2003 Aug • Lowers Cholesterol Journal of Nutritional Science & Vitaminology. 2003 Aug • Stimulates Immune System Planta Medica 1999 • Accelerates Wound Healing Planta Medica 1999 • Aloecorp MAP Enhances Native Biological Activity of Aloe International Immunopharmacology 2005 Topical Indications Topical Indications Biologically Active Vehicle in Topical Applications Journal of the American Podiatric Medical Association June 1989 Accelerating Wound Healing British Journal of Dermatology 2001 Journal of the Medical Association of Thailand 2000 Journal of Ethnopharmacology 1998 Journal of the American Podiatric Medical Association 1994 Journal of Dermatologic Surgery and Oncology * Too many to list Wound Healing/Dermal Integument (Anti-aging) Life Sciences 2003 Journal of Ethnopharmacology 1998 Molecular & Cellular Biochemistry 1998 Indian Journal of Experimental Biology 1998 Journal of the American Podiatric Medical Association 1994 Journal of the American Podiatric Medical Association 1989 Topical Indications Moisturizing Effect Skin Research and Technology 2006 Association for Professionals in Infection Control and Epidemiology 2003 Topical Immunomodulatory Activity International Immunopharmacology 2005 Planta Medica 1999 The Journal for Investigative Dermatology 1998 Planta Medica 1989 * Too many to list Topical Anti-Inflammatory Korean Journal of Dermatology 2004 Journal of Ethnopharmacology 1996 Journal of the American Podiatric Medical Association 1989 Journal of the American Podiatric Medical Association 1994 *Too many to list Topical Indications Calcium and the Skin Calcium plays a critical roll in epidermal cell differentiation, turnover and wound healing. There is some evidence that cell turnover can be up-regulated by increasing calcium availability topically. Calcium has also been shown effective in treating dry skin due to its role in regulating lipid barrier processes. The National Cancer Research Institute has reported that people with low skin calcium experience greater premature aging of the skin and incidence of skin cancer. Aloe contains approximately 7% calcium by dry weight and this content is thought to play a role in the accelerated wound healing properties of aloe, moisturizing effect and anti-carcinogenic effects. For this reason aloe should be a critical component of cosmetic and cosmeceutical applications such as: • Stimulation of post-dermabrasion wound healing J Dermatol Surg Oncol 1990 • OTC exfoliation products (wound healing and moisturizing) • Anti-aging and skin cancer protection Qmatrix TM Processing Another Innovation… Only from Aloecorp Aloecorp’s new Qmatrix™ Processing is the latest step in our effort to “bring the best of nature to mankind”. • Qmatrix™ is an patented aloe manufacturing process • A combination of our patented Modified Aloe Polysaccharide (MAP) process and patent pending Low Temperature/Short Time (LTST) drying process. • Qmatrix™ Processing… Designed to produce the highest quality Aloe vera powder available • Only from Aloecorp Qmatrix TM Processing Another Innovation… Only from Aloecorp Published studies show that LTST dehydration technology provides superior retention of heat labile components, color & flavor characteristics • Gentle low temperature/short time drying • Superior sensory attributes retained (Academic study) • Superior retention of nutrients and bioactivity (Academic study) • Atmospheric pressure (no vacuum) • Energy efficient (Green) • Environmentally friendly (Green) • Superior solubility characteristics • New proprietary products due to versatility Qmatrix TM Processing Solubility, bulk density and moisture absorbance are positively affected Dispersion & dissolution improved 20 0.200 Solubility (min) for application 12 8 0.880 4 0.180 Moisture Absorbance (%) Bulk density optimized 16 0.160 0.140 0.120 0.100 0.080 0.060 0.040 0.020 0.840 0.000 0 SD-80 QM-80 Low Agitation 0 QM-10 Moderate Agitation 50 100 150 0.800 SD-80 Minutes stirring Agitation Low Agitation moderate SD-80 19 8 QM-80 4.5 3.3 1 1 250 300 QM-80 QM-10 0.760 Moisture absorbance rate reduced 0.720 SD-80 QM-10 200 Time (min) QM -80 QM -10 350 Qmatrix™ Processing Product Advances (8010XQ) Superior Quality Characteristics Superior Physical Characteristics Sensory attributes (better taste and color) Improved solubility Color stability (after reconstitution) Targeted bulk density Shelf life (testing in process) Improved flow ability Reduced thermal degradation Less hydroscopic Reduced microbial degradation Homogeneous dry matrix New From Aloecorp Proprietary blends and Turn-key products possible Patent submitted November 2004 Attorney Docket: ALOE.01/PR Express Mail No.: DEHYDRATION OF FOOD COMBINATIONS FIELD of the invention The invention relates to the drying of blends of aloe, foods or food extracts, herbs or herb extracts, supplements, and the like.
