Objective: The students will practice the
elements of story setting. This should help
them compose a story to a prompt.
Summary:
• Setting is establishing the place, time,
season, time of day, historical period,
mood, and the like in which a story
happens.

Activity: The students will draw a picture to
show a setting. If time allows they can write
sentences to describe the setting.
Procedure:
1. Read through the slides and discuss them
with the children.
2. Follow the directions and draw a picture
of the sentence as they picture it.
3. In groups or as a class, write a paragraph
describing the setting.

school.
Did you picture-the country,
the city,
or the suburbs?
Was Quinn going to
school today or in the
past?
Was Quinn going to

Include details that

describing details of
