Chapter Grant Application Tips
•
Be concise
•
Focus equally on event specifics and impact on community
•
Don’t ask for support that is not allowed (e.g., travel expenses)
•
You don’t have to do all the planning from the ground up, sponsor groups that
further the SfN mission through their existing activities
•
When sponsoring events for these groups, ask them to write up a summary
for you to draw from for the application
•
Include a diversity of activities or groups to sponsor in your application
Chapter Development
•
Host a Chapter Meeting
– Student/postdoc poster session
• Hold meeting after National SfN meeting so that posters are already prepared
• Consider an award as incentive
– PI speakers
– Roundtable discussion on a topic of choice
– Consider having student/postdoc speakers, as this will also help with career
development
– Solicit ideas for future Chapter events or groups to sponsor
– National SfN can help advertize by blasting emails to zip code areas
Chapter Meeting
Educational Outreach
