Word makes a lot of assumptions:
Font type and size
One inch margins
Multiple line spacing
These can all be controlled
from the Ribbon

The Format Painter button (paint
brush icon) in the Clipboard area can
copy the format of selected text
Select text, click the Paint Brush
button
Cursor
