Project Manager
Project History
• Standard Movex Archiving functionality exists but
does not allow view or restore of the archived
data
• Extensive testing of standard archiving
programmes revealed lengthy run times unlikely
to be accommodated by the overnight batch
window.
• Concluded by Project Manager that Standard
programmes not fit for business in December
2003.
Business Case
• Originally projected that by 10th September 2004,
DASD would reach 85% utilisation resulting in
service degradation.
• Not possible to continue adding DASD due to
negative impact upon AS400 Processor.
• System response deteriorating in many inquiry
programmes due to volume of data.
• Development required to provide users with view
of archived data both on-line and off-line
• Reduce size of Live Movex to enable copy for QA
Developments
• Modification N3046 written by Intentia to create
an On-line Movex Archive Environment, accessible
as a function from Standard Movex
• Modification N3047 written to deliver restricted
view capability within the environment
• OS Data Manager from Vision Solutions installed
in QA and LIVE to extract the required records
for Archiving documented in MOD240 (Business
Requirements Document).
Why OS Data Manager from Vision
Solutions ?
• OSD Relationship with Intentia – Assurance that products
are compatible and development continues independent of
Hagemeyer.
• Data Manager allows HUKL to purge/archive data from
within Movex files, abiding by the rules specified
WHILST USERS ARE STILL ONLINE
• Archive Models can be built easily given the appropriate
Movex file structure knowledge. New models also
regularly developed by Vision
• Audit trail/detailed history of Archive jobs retained
