Industrial Revolution: agricultural output had increased again, freeing more people (about ½) for non-farming jobs   New crops: potatoes, corn, from New World, crop rotation, new farm technology for plowing, seeding, and reaping—all increased farm output Urbanization began: 1800, 20 cities in Europe over 100,000;  Cities developed around resources like coal, iron, water, railroads    End of the period: 1914 C.E.
