RRT IV Meeting Announcement
This is to announce the upcoming Regional Response Team IV meeting to be held
August 12 and 13, 2009 at the Embassy Suites Hotel, 800 Monroe Street Huntsville, AL
35801. On Tuesday, August 11, 2009, there will be a Region 4 Homeland Security
Summit. Both meetings will be held at the Huntsville, Alabama, Embassy Suites.
Summit attendees are not expected to stay for the RRT meeting but are welcome to
attend. State, Local and Federal Agencies will be contacted separately regarding
attendance at the Homeland Security Summit. The hotel is holding a block of rooms
through July 17, 2009.
To make your reservations, please call 1-800-EMBASSY; identify yourself as attending
the Regional Response Team IV (RRT IV) meeting. The direct line to the hotel is 256539-7373. The group code is RRT. Reservations can also be made online at
www.huntsville.embassysuites.com. The Embassy Suites will offer the government rate
of $84.00 for single occupancy plus applicable taxes. The hotel does accept the federal
tax-exempt form with government I.D. Please make your reservations by July 17, 2009
to assure rate and availability. This will let us know if we need to increase or decrease
the room block. Check-in time is 3:00 p.m. and check-out time is 12:00. The current
government rate for meals and incidentals in the Huntsville, Alabama area is $44.00 per
day. Reservations must be guaranteed by a credit card but the hotel will not pre-charge
the credit card until the guest arrives. To cancel reservations or to change the length of
hotel stay, the hotel must be notified 24 hours prior to the arrival date to avoid a
cancellation fee that is equivalent to one night's room and tax.
The Embassy Suites Huntsville is conveniently located right in the heart of downtown
Huntsville and connected by a sky bridge to the city's convention center space, the Von
Braun Center, the city's sports arena, concert hall and playhouse. The hotel is located 12
miles from the Huntsville International Airport and right in the center of the aerospace
industry, with the Cummings Research Park, Marshall Space Flight Center and the US
Space and Rocket Center just a short drive away. The hotel does offer a shuttle service
between the airport and the hotel from 6:30AM – 10:30PM. A cab ride from the airport
to the hotel is estimated at $25.00. Huntsville is home to great shopping, dining and
recreation, including the renowned Hampton Cove golf courses.
DIRECTIONS TO THE HOTEL:
From I-65 (North or South) take Exit 340 to Huntsville I-565 headed East. Travel
approximately 19 miles to exit 19A South Memorial Parkway (231 South). As you merge
into Memorial Parkway take the first exit, Clinton Street. Loop around to the red light,
and turn right on to Clinton Street. Follow Clinton to Monroe Street and turn right. You
will drive past the front of the VBC, take a right at the light (Monroe Street). We are on
the right. Parking in all areas will be $5 per day.
Entering Huntsville from 72 West (from Scottsboro), take exit 19-A to Jefferson Street
after 72 West merges into I-565. Follow Jefferson Street to the first red light at Monroe
Street; continue straight you will drive past the front of the VBC take a right at the light
Monroe Street. We are on the right. Parking in all areas will be $5 per day.
Coming in from Guntersville, 431 West will become Governors Drive. Follow
Governors Drive across California Street and past Huntsville Hospital on your right.
Turn right at the traffic light at Monroe Street. Go through the light at St. Clair, and turn
left on Pollard Street at the VBC parking sign to enter the South Hall parking garage.

Center as well as information about construction and street closings. Parking in all areas
including the City lots will be $5 per day.

2010 RRT IV MEETINGS:
Our 2010 RRT IV meetings are tentatively scheduled for February in Georgia and
August in the State of Kentucky.
