• People who came to America to be able
to follow their own religion.

Who helped the Pilgrims?

• Boys and girls spent
most of their time
doing chores.
• Boys were able to
learn to read and
write.
• Most girls could not go
to school; they had to
stay home and work
with their mothers.

Why are the Pilgrims
important?
• They celebrated what we now call
Thanksgiving.
• Today we remember their hard work
and have a holiday to show how thankful
we are to have freedom.
