Motionless vs. Stationary
Rule 8-1-1
Throughout the swimming rules and related materials

changed from “motionless” to “stationary”.
The term motionless, by strict enforcement, is no

not the movement was directly or indirectly related to
initiating a starting movement.
Editorial
Motionless vs. Stationary
Rule 8-1-1
