Effect: Villagers are no longer
self-sufficient; food production
declines and famine sets in.
Cause:
• British restrict Indian owned
industries
• Britain reduces food
production in favor of cash
crops

uprisings spread over much of
Northern India.
Effect:
• Britain assumes direct
control of India
• Racism & Distrust Grows
Effects: Indians form Indian
National Congress & the Muslim
League, which eventually call for
self-government.

• Resent British Discrimination
