Comprehensive Assets Information Better Decision making Greater Productivity and efficiency Continuous Improvement in Service , Reliability Better Infrastructure Management Enhanced Communication Improved Customer Service 12 Middle East Geospatial Forum 2012 GIS Role in Meeting Challenges Utilities major challenge is to reduce operating cost and increase their revenue, while maintaining customer satisfaction at the same time. They are always under pressure to cope up with rising service demands with population/urban growth. 13 Middle East Geospatial Forum 2012 Current Water GIS Technology • Centralized GeoDatabase (ORACLE 11g , ArcSDE 9.3.1 ) • GIS Solutions • WEB Solutions •WINFO , Engineering Drawings Archiving and Management •Desktop Solutions • Water Database Maintenance and Update (WDMU) • Survey and As-Built Drawings Verification Application and Positional Accuracy Checking • Water Operations Workflow Management • SHABAKAT (Water Network Analytical Application) • Emergency Response Call Centre Application • Tankers Management Application • Integration with other enterprise databases (ERP, POLARSUITE) 14 Middle East Geospatial Forum 2012 Current Electricity GIS Technology • Centralized GeoDatabase (ORACLE 10g , ArcSDE 9.2 ) • GIS Solutions • WEB Solutions •Explore Qatar Viewer •Desktop Solutions • Editor Tools • Viewing Tools • Data Extraction Tools • Integration with other enterprise databases (ERP) 15 Middle East Geospatial Forum 2012 Future Aspects of Technology Enterprise Solution Mobile GIS Technologies Lack of accurate and precise information availability at the work sites leads to more paper work and delayed response of operations. Electricity and Water GIS are exploring Field Technologies with complete GIS solutions to cater Kahramaa field crews. ArcFM™ is a powerful extension of ESRI's ArcGIS® platform that provides a complete, enterprise utility solution specially for energy sector. The ArcFM Solution allows utility businesses to make use of a single integrated environment to manage and map multiple assets, leveraging all the power of ArcGIS’s objectoriented system. 16 Middle East Geospatial Forum 2012 Future Aspects of Technology Disintegrated systems has disadvantages like redundancy of data which requires manual replication to the different systems which are overheads in terms of Cost and Time. KAHRAMAA is aiming to integrate corporate systems with GIS System. Enterprise Asset Management Polar suite Complaints System Hydraulic Modeling GIS System Water & Electricity SCADA Load Flow Analysis 17 Middle East Geospatial Forum 2012 GIS Recognitions International Recognitions for Water GIS Best GIS Map Award – Year1993 Best GIS Map Award – Year 1997 SAG Award – Year 2003 Best GIS Map Award – Year 2004 SAG Award – Year 2011 Best GIS Map Award – Year 2011 18 Middle East Geospatial Forum 2012 Conclusion The GIS centric approach with full deployment of enterprise-wide GIS functionality helps policy makers for : • Better decisions related to Electricity and Water planning and operations. • Plays a key role for KAHRAMAA higher management monitoring their Business objectives and associated Key Performance Indicators (KPI). •A GIS centric view of managing KAHRAMAA resources will not only address the aging infrastructure but also the complexities of other challenges like Quality, fast developments of the country and population growth. Therefore as a KAHRAMAA, we have the accountability to address these issues while balancing both cost and risk. 19 Middle East Geospatial Forum 2012 Thank you 20 Middle East Geospatial Forum 2012
