ACUPUNCTURE

The human body has 347 major Acupuncture points

Acupuncture is an age-old healing practice of Traditional Chinese Medicine. It has a 2500 year old history and is practiced all over the world today. The College of Traditional Chinese Medicine Practitioners and Acupuncturist of Ontario is the governing body for practitioners in Ontario. Most employments benefits cover Acupuncture and TCM treatments.

It is one of the most powerful methods or treating acute and chronic pain as well as to encourage natural healing, improve mood, encourage fertility and energy. Thin stainless steel needles are placed at specific points in the body. Acupuncture seeks to release the flow of the body's vital energy or Qi (“chee”) by stimulating points along 14 energy pathways. Scientists say the needles cause the body to release endorphins -- natural painkillers -- and may boost blood flow and change brain activity. Acupuncture needles are “hair” thin, and most people feel no pain or very little pain when they are inserted. They often say they feel energized or relaxed after the treatment.

BACK PAIN?

All Acupuncture treatment sessions take about 45 minutes in total.

The healing time is very individual. Depending on how long you have been suffering, how severe your condition is, your own health level and several other variables, you may need 4 to 12 treatments to resolve your issue.

HEADACHES AND MIGRAINES Acupuncture helps relieve migraines or tension headaches. Acupuncture “helps reduce days with migraines and may have a lasting effect”, says a study published in the Canadian Medical Association Journal.

FIBROMYALGIA

Studies that test how well acupuncture works against the pain of fibromyalgia have proven to fair well. According to the Mayo clinic; “Acupuncture appears to reduce many types of chronic pain, so it’s not surprising that people with fibromyalgia are interested in trying it. The studies on the effectiveness of acupuncture for fibromyalgia symptoms suggest that it may have a beneficial role in providing pain, anxiety and fatigue relief.”

ARTHRITIS

“Acupuncture can be a helpful addition to conventional treatment for osteoarthritis”, says the National Institute of body.

Arthritis and Musculoskeletal and Skin Diseases. And some of the most promising, early research has shown acupuncture eased arthritis pain in the

CARPEL TUNNEL AND OTHER HAND/ARM PAIN Acupuncture was tested and compared with steroid pills for the hand and arm pain of carpal tunnel syndrome. Researchers in Taiwan gave one group eight acupuncture treatments, over about a month, and those patients reported more relief, for a longer time, than the group taking medicine.

DENTAL PAIN Acupuncture provides relief from the pain of toothaches, TMJ pain, extraction or dental surgery. Dental pain is considered by many to be one of many conditions that respond to acupuncture.

WORLD HEALTH ORGANIZATION People try acupuncture for neck pain, muscle pain, tennis acupuncture.

elbow, hormonal imbalance, menstrual cramps, endometriosis, fibroids, hot flashes….to avoid medicines and their side effects. The World Health Organization lists 40 different conditions that can be treated with

ELECTRO ACUPUNCTURE Electro-acupuncture is sometimes used and is quite similar to traditional acupuncture in that the same points are stimulated during treatment. As with traditional acupuncture, needles are inserted on specific points along the body. The needles are then attached to a device that generates continuous electric pulses using small clips. Electro-acupuncture uses two needles at time so that the impulses can pass from one needle to the other.

Several pairs of needles can be stimulated simultaneously.

Electrical stimulation of the needles should not be used for people with pacemakers

NAUSEA Acupuncture at the pericardium (P6 ) acupuncture point on the wrist can reduce the symptoms of nausea and vomiting, even after cancer drug treatments or surgery. Studies compared 10 different acupuncture methods -- including needles, electrical stimulation, and acupressure -- to medicines that block nausea or vomiting and found the acupuncture treatments worked well.

Because acupuncture can lessen pain, nausea, and vomiting, it is sometimes used to help people cope with symptoms of pregnancy, cancer or chemotherapy.

FERTILITY Celebrities such as singers Celine Dion and Mariah Carey credited acupuncture -- used along with infertility treatments -- with helping them get pregnant. A review of medical studies backs up treatment.

this view, suggesting that acupuncture boosts the effectiveness of fertility

ALLERGIES, FATIGUE, DEPRESSION, ADDICTION Acupuncture and Auricular Acupuncture has been used for a variety of other conditions, including smoking cessation, insomnia, fatigue, depression, and seasonal allergies.

COSMETIC ACUPUNCTURE Cosmetic Acupuncture stimulates and tones aging skin, helps removes toxins and encourages cell production. Is able to erase fine lines and decrease deeper ones.

Helps reduce double skin, puffy eyes. Improves blood circulation and collagen to the face. Increases your own natural energy (Qi force), providing you with a complete sense of relaxation and rejuvenation, safely and without surgery.

MYOPULSE TREATMENTS Acupuncture is considered to be safe for children. However, some children, as well as some adults, are intimidated by the needles.

We have an alternative for you; it’s called the “Myopulse”.

This is a pain free treatment that is computer-based and utilizes a biofeed-back system that helps the body repair itself.

FACIAL REJUVENATION The “Myopulse” instrument can also reprogram your face muscles back to a supple, more youthful resilience and tone. It lifts and tones muscles, diminishes fine lines and wrinkles, without any surgery or down-time. Completely non-invasive treatment!

Take 5-15 years OFF your face, naturally!

SIDE-EFFECTS Acupuncture rarely causes more than mild side effects; it can be used on pregnant women, alongside medication and other medical treatments. Acupuncture should not be used on people using blood thinners as they have increased risk of bleeding.
